I'll always remember PLDC. Steve was the funniest, upbeat guy in class! We'd make hawaii jokes, we'd make fun of his accent but he always had a come back and always was laughing. I will never forget that long night in the woods of Ft Campbell; Steve helped me run our platoons patrol base. Steve was an outstanding soldier and in the short month I came to know him I knew he was destined for great things. He excelled in PLDC...what a loss. God Bless the Sakoda family. Air Assault!

Dear Steve, Thank you for your courage and your sacrifice. I am sorry we lost you to this war. I send this condolence to your loved ones so that they are reminded that you are not gone...just changed. May you rest in peace.
I Did Not Die
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle Autumns rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush. I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die - Anon -

Almighty God, we remember this day before thee thy faithful servant Steve, and we pray that, having opened to him the gates of larger life, thou wilt receive him more and more into thy joyful service, that, with all who have faithfully served thee in the past, he may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
