Family, friends bid farewell to Ohio soldier
Associated Press
Kevin Prince joined the Army for the opportunities it afforded — he wanted to go to college.
Spc. Prince, 22, who was with the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, out of Fort Irwin, Calif., was killed April 23 by a roadside bomb while he was on patrol in Iskandariyah, Iraq.
More than 100 mourners attended a memorial service Saturday for Prince in North Woodbury, Ohio, 45 miles northeast of Columbus. Visitation with the family was Sunday at a funeral home before Prince was buried at a cemetery in Plain City, where he grew up.
Pictures at the memorial showed Prince wearing a black tuxedo with a prom date and in fatigues holding a rifle.
His sister-in-law, Ember Prince, said God sent Kevin Prince to Iraq to help “protect the freedom we enjoy everyday.”

Kevin,It has been a long time since I talked to you.. My son is now 3 years old. Remember, my wife was 3 months pregnant before I left. I pray to you but sometimes I feel like you can not hear me, so I decided to write. I told you I would never forget you. I remember your last words to me. "Do not worry about me, you should worry about Maure." I gave you a hug and left the Army. I left 3 days before you guys were stop lossed. Come to find out that you were promoted from SPC to CPL, and you took my place. I believe you took my place in the vehicle on April 23rd. I should have been there, maybe I would have saw a glare from the sand or maybe things would not have went down the way it did. Who knows, but what I do know is that I miss you. I know that you do not blame me, I know that I shouldn't blame myself but the truth is I cry myself to sleep everytime I see the news. You ARE a friend, one that will never escape my memories. I know you can read this from above. May the Lord ease the pain of all your loved ones and keep you in HIS arms for eternity. Love you Brother. Thank you.I recently went to another funeral for my friend who decided to take his own life ( He was a Marine ). The priest said " The only wasted life is a life that is not remembered. A life that had no impact on others."My point bro, you have impacted my life more than you know and I will Never Forget.CPL RomoE TRP 1st Platoon 4th SQ.
