GATCHEL Master-at-Arms Senior Apprentice Shayna A. Schnell, 19, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
She was serving in the United States Navy. She was born in Jasper, Indiana, on October 10, 1987. Her parents are Doug Schnell and Karen Suzanne (Johnson) Silacci, who survive her.
Preceding her in death were her grandfathers, Johnny Schnell and Jack Terry.
Shayna spent her childhood years in Dubois County, later moving to Perry County where she graduated from Perry Central High School in 2006. She enjoyed baking, being outdoors, horseback riding, arts and crafts, watching Disney movies and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her father and stepmother, Doug and Peggy Schnell, Gatchel; mother and stepfather, Suzanne and Vernon Silacci, Adamsville, Tenn.; sister, Nicole Schnell, Lawrence, Kansas; brother, AT3 Tyler Schnell, serving in the U.S. Navy stationed at Oceana, Va., and Trent Schnell, Schnellville; grandparents, Linda Terry, Gatchel, Doris Schnell, Schnellville, Judy Byrd, Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Leo Johnson, Tuscumbia, Alabama
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery in Gatchel. Rev. Timothy Tenbarge will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County 4-H or Lilly Dale Cemetery.
