Incident: Army Staff Sgt. Larry I. Rougle died Oct. 23 in Sawtalo Sar Mountain, Kunar Province, Afghanistan, of wounds when he was engaged by enemy small arms fire during combat operations.

SSG Larry Ismael Rougle 5/6/1982 ~ 10/23/2007 Beloved Son, Father, Brother and Nephew became a casualty of war in Afghanistan. Larry loved being a soldier and serving his country. He had an aura about him that you could not help smiling and being happy when you were around him or heard his voice. Being with his fellow soldiers was what he lived for. He once said he would "die happy if the Guys fighting next to (him) could come home safe." While on his world travels he met wonderful and famous people. He loved taking his baby girl on adventures, riding bullet bikes and spending money. Larry was his Dad's Hijito. He leaves behind his baby girl Carmin Jade Rougle; his parents Nancy and Ismael Rougle; his brother David Rougle; his Godson Cordell J. Rodriguez; special cousins Consuelo "Sissy" Ables and Little Joel Rodriguez. Married Jackie Trujillo; they later divorced. Also mourning the loss are his beloved Aunt Char and Uncle Joel Rodriguez, Aunt (Godmother) Teresa Nava, Aunt Becky Martinez; grandmother Mary Lopez; Uncles Fernando and Peto Lopez; many cousins; and special friend Liz O'Doherty; and many friends from around the world. Vigil and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on Thursday, November 1st at 8:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns, where friends may view until 10 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at 11 a.m. also at St. Francis Xavier. He will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery alongside his comrades to continue the battles as God's soldier. Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Larry will be loved and missed forever and will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

It'll take 20, 30, 40 years for people to realize the sacrifices implied in keeping up our freedom.To Larry Rougle and his comrades, family, friends and friends of friends: we all share something in this, not the least we who have had sons there. From Spain, we ask for the mercy of the Allmighty and a place in his garden to all who gave all they had for freedom. .
