I only met Billy once, in Salt Lake City several years ago during the NCAA basketball tournament. I was there to watch my school, the Kentucky Wildcats, as was Billy. We met the first evening and immediately hit it off. What a personable, funny and unassuming guy. He was the kind of person who you felt you had known your whole life in the first half-hour that you talked. We had a lot of fun that evening and Billy refused to let me pay for any of our food/drinks. We had a great time together and he even asked me to visit him in New York during my next visit (my sister lives in Greenwich). I only wish that I had had the chance to visit to get to know him and his family. I know that we would have become good friends. I know that he has a very close family. My wife and I even met his mother and sister in Indianapolis a couple of weeks later. What nice people. I pray for Billy, his wife and his children. I can't imagine the pain, but I know they are strong. The world is a better place because of people like Billy. I hope to see you again Billy, my friend.

I met Charlie Mills in Troy, New York, when he was the Public Safety Commisioner. He helped my neighborhood set up a watch program to fight crime. His dedication to his job was obvious. I never forgot how caring and reliable he was. Mr. Mills was a warm and very likable person who left an everlasting positive impression on our community. I know that he sacrificed his life for others. Charley Mills is an American Hero and someone whose courage and selflessness I will remember for the rest of my life.
Paul S. Sheremeta, acquaintance
