EASTON, Mass. A Marine Corps explosives disposal technician from Massachusetts was killed in combat in Iraq, military officials announced April 30.
Sgt. William J. Callahan, 28, of South Easton, died April 27 in Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Forc, at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Callahan joined the Marine Corps in 2002 and was assigned to the company in 2005 after being trained in explosives disposal, said 2nd Lt. Richard Ulsh, public information officer for the 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune.

BY Anonymous on Dec 21, 2011 | |  | Bill, it is amazing the way the people touch each other. I was blessed to escort a friend to your grave site in Arlington. We were not there 15 min and we were greeted by your mother. It was nothing short of a miracle to be there at the same time that she was visiting. Then during a Patriot Guard flag line at the Bourne cemetery, the man next to me commented that Arlington was a nicer place and asked if I had ever been there. I told him that I had the pleasure of visiting your grave site with a friend. He then introduced himself as your uncle. This is a small world and you have touched so many. God bless.
