Rush M. Jenkins’ twin brother, Michael woke up on his birthday and thought of his sibling, off fighting in a faraway place.
“I was waiting for him to give me a call,” he said.
Instead he received another call. Rush “Mickey” Jenkins, 22, of Clarksville, Tenn., was killed Oct. 30 when his patrol was struck by an explosive and small-arms fire in Salman Pak. He was a 2004 high school graduate and was assigned to Fort Benning.
“That’s all I could think of, is why on his birthday?” Michael Jenkins said.

To Rush: I am at a loss for words...except that I know that Carver and McCall are at your side...you three and hundreds before you and hundreds after you are joining the most elite fighting force imagined!!! You are now a member of the LORD'S ARMY!!!!!! Fighting not only for our freedom but for freedom from the hell we are living in now. No one could ever be prouder than I am at the great young man you turned out to be.The last talk we had sticks like a cold blade in my heart.I know that you were thinking about what you were going back to.But yet you went back.I wished then that I could keep you home.But all I could do was tell you it would be ok.And then it was not.I miss you so much.And I think about you everday.I guess the only thing keeping me from going crazy.Is I know that you are at peace in heaven.Talking with your mom and granny and playing you music.Rest well Son we will all be together oneday.Untill then I still have all the times we had.I love you son ,Dad

oh mickey i am so lost i dont know what normal is anymore, every thing is all off center now , you were suck a key part of my life and i hope that you never for a second though i took you for granted , you are the best little brother any one could ever want and i am so blessed to have been able to share growing up with you and we kinda of learned about the real world together too we found out fast it is hard out there but you always said things like life is what you make it and pressed on never complained you were a born TRUE Soldier. I am so proud of the man you became and how you were not afraid to put your boots on and go to work.Hug Mommy for me and we know you two are looking over us.
